Editorial policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
Our sources
We write only from official sources whose material may be reused with credit: the Press Information Bureau (PIB), press releases from the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, RBI, SEBI, exam boards (CBSE, NTA, UP Board), Supreme Court judgments and other government websites.
What we never do
- Copy or reword stories from other news publishers. Every Kasba story is written fresh, in our own words and structure.
- Use sensational headlines.
- Publish unverified claims.
- Publish anything about an individual that could be defamatory.
What every story contains
A headline, a two-line summary, “what this means for you”, key facts, 2 to 3 questions and answers, a link to the primary source with its name and date, a category, and district or state tags.
Review
An editor reads and approves every story before it is published. If a source is unclear, the story is held until the editor has checked it. See also our Code of ethics and Corrections policy.
Court judgments and contested matters
When a matter is in the news or disputed, Kasba does not repeat other media’s claims. We report only what an official record says: a court judgment or order, a government order, or legislative proceedings. Such stories are marked “From the record”. We give each side’s arguments as the record gives them, never call anyone guilty before a final verdict, and never identify victims of sexual offences, children or juveniles.
